Presently working as a Associate Professor in the Department of Music in Vasantrao Naik Govt. Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (Formerly Morris College) Nagpur.
A recognised vocal artist in Khayal Gayaki of the All India Radio and Doordarshan.
Delivers Lecture demonstrations on various topics related to music, such as Rasa Siddhanta, Role of Art in Personality Development, Remix of Music, Globalization & Music, Appreciation of Music.
As a Writer,has contributed to well known journals & periodicals like ‘Sangeet Kala Vihar’, Mumbai, ‘Sangeet’- Hathras, ‘Naad-Brahma’ Mumbai ‘Ashay’,‘Panchadhara’,‘Bayaja’,‘Maharashtra-Times’,‘Pratishthan etc.
Sadhana comes from a family of artists. She started her training with her father and guru Dr. Vivek Gokhale, a professor in Philosophy and a classical singer, who is known for his contribution in the field of Aesthetics. She is fortunate to receive lessons from Pt. Manoharrao Kaslikar,a versatile artist from Amravati, with command on Agra Style and from Pt. Chandrashekhar Rele an innovative composer and performing musicologist and renowned artist from Gwalior Gharana.Sadhana is taking lessons for the past 17 years from Mrs.Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar a renowned artist of modern generation known for her excellence in the traditional music as also for her success with new ideas.
Listening to her performance, one finds a pleasant blend of various gharanas and styles represented by her Gurus. Sadhana has got a bright academic carrier too. She completed graduation and then her masters from Amravati University, and stood first in order of merit in Arts faculty. She was also topper in B.Ed. Examination.
She has been teaching the post gratuate University courses in Vasantrao Naik Govt. Institute of Arts & Social Sciences Nagpur, India.
Sadhana is fortunate to recieve prestigious SURMANI AWARD by Sur Singar Samsad Mumbai in 1993.
Sadhana was Awarded Doctorate by Nagpur University for her research work on "contribution of modern Composers (bandishkars) with reference to the changing scenario of Khyal Gayaki in Indian Classical Music." She is recognised guide for Ph.D. of Nagpur University.
She owes to her grandfather for excellence in singing Marathi Natya Sangeet of BalGandharva.
